Associate Director and Head of Commercial and Pre-Construction
Introducing our Head of Commercial and Pre-Construction (Contracts) and Associate Director, Chris. With over 40 years experience and a focus on exceptional client experience, Chris manages our commercial side as well as new client opportunities here at COEL.
I began my career working alongside my father, before going on to build over 40 years’ experience with tier-one regional and national contractors. Starting in site management and progressing into surveying and pre-construction, I’ve developed a well-rounded understanding of what it takes to deliver projects successfully – from concept through to completion – on time, on budget and beyond client expectations.
Having spent the majority of my career in pre-construction, I bring a proactive and professional approach to COEL’s front-end delivery. My extensive experience in tender responses plays a key role in ensuring submissions are of the highest quality and aligned with client requirements.
I’m a petrol head and a keen Formula One fan. Outside of work, I enjoy restoring classic cars, as well as spending time gardening and taking on DIY projects.
Chris is responsible for assessing new opportunities and leading the end-to-end tender submission process with his team. This includes coordinating project communications with clients, external consultants, and COEL’s wider design and estimating teams throughout the pre-construction stage. Alongside his bid management responsibilities, he oversees contract management and profitability contributing to our financial stability and business growth. His key responsibilities include tendering, reporting, and dispute resolution, driving efficiency and aligning commercial strategy with company objectives.
