Our Projects

MicrosensDx

With a vision to empower and improve healthcare, MicrosensDx develop low cost, automatable extraction technologies to improve infectious disease diagnostics.  A medical device company on a mission, they needed a new home in Cambridge for a purpose-built laboratory and office.  We worked with the client to plan, design and build their office and lab workspace, as they expanded into Cambridge from London.

Purpose-built labs for medical innovation

MicrosensDx required a complete overhaul of the space, leading to the decommissioning and stripping out of all pre-existing laboratory areas. The brief included the creation of a purpose-built ISO 7 clean room, quality control lab, cleaning room, office space, and comms room, with new storage facilities methodically integrated throughout the lab design. Much of the mechanical and electrical provision was updated to meet the high standards needed for the clinical testing labs, including a new air handling unit with a HEPA filtration system.

Light touch furnishings with practicality in mind

The office areas underwent a complete overhaul, featuring new furniture, including lockers, desks, and task chairs that reflected their light teal green branding. Solar tints and blinds were installed on the windows to control light levels and avoid glare. Fresh flooring and decoration were added to provide a clean, professional appearance, creating an ideal medical innovation space for the team to expand into

Keeping the neighbours happy

New to Cambridge, the client had invested in a commercial lease in a multi-tenanted building. The building was therefore occupied throughout the fit out, so careful consideration was given to minimising noise and disturbances during business hours, using soundproofing measures where necessary. Detailed planning ensured contractors could access the site without compromising the privacy of other businesses, facilitating a smooth project execution for all involved.

Enhancing healthcare through innovative diagnostics

For MicrosensDx, every aspect of the design of their office and lab space was focused on delivering their scientists with high-end laboratories that will ultimately enhance patient care globally. Offering sample collection, enrichment and preparation services and products to diagnostic companies and clinical testing laboratories, their lab working environment only needed to do one thing: operate at optimal performance for innovation.
