Business Development Manager
Introducing our people-first strategist, Joe Hill. Joe began his journey with COEL on-site and has since progressed through site management and pre-construction to become our Business Development Manager.
I started my career in construction as a partitioner, which really gave me a solid grounding in the importance of quality workmanship and what it takes to deliver on-site. It was a great hands-on introduction to the industry. From there, I moved into site management, and then into pre-construction—so I’ve seen projects from every angle, from the ground up to the very start of design. That experience really helped shape the way I work today.
I’m now in business development, and I draw on all those earlier roles to help guide clients through the fit-out process. I really enjoy those early conversations—understanding a client’s vision and helping them shape it into something real. My role is very much about people and building relationships. For me, it’s about earning trust and making sure each project feels thought-through and supported from day one.
Outside of work, I’m a dad of two, and family means everything to me. I’ve also always loved music—I sing and play the guitar, and it’s something I do to unwind.
What makes Joe particularly valuable in his BD role is his breadth of his experience. Having started on the tools and progressed through management and pre-construction, he brings a deep understanding of both the practical and strategic aspects of the job. This dual perspective allows him to communicate effectively with both clients and internal teams and ensure every aspect of the client’s initial workspace design ideas are achievable.
Joe has worked across a range of sectors—including technology, healthcare, science, and commercial workplaces, which gives him a strong grasp of the different pressures and priorities each one presents. He’s especially passionate about getting involved early in projects, when ideas are just beginning to take shape, believing that’s when the most impactful contributions can be made. Always eager to learn, Joe consistently brings fresh insight into every conversation.
