Recruiting top lawyers, the focus for fit out

Birketts are a leading independent law firm poised for growth, and so recruiting top professionals was high on their agenda. Providing top-quality office space was a crucial part of their recruitment, retention and reward programme and working in partnership with Churchmanor Estates, we delivered a bespoke office design that ensures Birketts remain at the forefront of new investment into Ipswich, in their flagship office in the ‘Princes Street corridor.

High-end yet friendly client experience

For Birketts’ clients, the experience begins upon entering the reception area. Warm orange hues and a wooden panelled front with pendant lights create a hotel-like ambience. This welcoming atmosphere extends throughout the office, featuring cosy nooks and casual seating areas adorned with enhanced tartan fabrics to evoke a sense of friendliness and warmth. The café space also mirrors a casual hotel experience, serving as a hub for meet-ups. Additionally, the office design includes numerous professional meeting spaces to facilitate private conversations with clients and case briefings within larger teams.

A nod to their heritage

Given that Ipswich was the location of Birketts’ first-ever office, established in 1863, it was crucial to honour its heritage and humble beginnings. The corridors proudly narrate the Birketts story, with bold orange walls depicting their ambition and growth over three centuries of client support. Wall space manifestations also highlight their unwavering commitment to the local community, including the Birketts Charitable Fund, which supports locally based charitable projects.

Hotelisation for a friendly, welcoming workspace

Inspired by the concept of hotelisation, this office design aims to replicate the comfort and amenities of a hotel, creating a welcoming first impression for clients and important visitors. The approach enhances employee well-being and satisfaction through flexible, aesthetically calming workspaces. This design boosts productivity and creativity with comfortable break areas, while fostering collaboration and community in inviting social spaces.
