July 2025 saw the Cambridge community come together for the third annual charity cricket match between Carter Jonas and COEL – a tradition that started as a small after-work game and has now grown into a major event raising money for local and national charities.
The heart of the day was all about giving back, so we’re pleased to announce our final total for the 2025 Carter Jonas VS COEL Charity Cricket Match is £45,594.05. The money raised will be a huge help to our charities: The Phoenix Trust, LandAid, Tom’s Trust and The Cambridge Cancer Research Hospital, This couldn’t have been achieved without the support of our sponsors, guests, and local businesses who gifted to the Silent Auction, showing the power of community spirit in Cambridge.
The event wasn’t just about cricket – it was about strengthening the social fabric of Cambridge. Our guests highlighted the joy of connecting with industry peers and familiar faces, all while supporting great causes.
Chris Broad delighted Cricket fans with stories of playing for England, as well as speaking fondly of his memories at Fenner’s having scored his first century there in his early days as a county cricketer. Tom Korni, a local musician, contributed to the wonderful atmosphere of the day as he entertained the crowds.
For COEL’s new managing director, Richard Brent, this was a first-time experience at the cricket event. The sold-out crowd and vibrant atmosphere reflected COEL’s commitment to outreach and giving back, aligning with the company’s strategic goals.
Carter Jonas and COEL commented in reflection on the day;
‘We feel exceptionally lucky to have received so much support for our charity cricket day. The event has grown every year and so has the help we have received from the local business community. It is something both Carter Jonas and COEL are immensely proud of, and we are delighted to be raising money for four incredible charities whose outstanding work helps create positive change in different fields.
The event is only possible due to the commitment of many in helping us and of course the local community in buying tickets to attend and support the event. We would like to thank all who have contributed to the success of the day.’
Team captain, Callum Hale, expressed confidence after last year’s win, hoping to repeat the success. Sadly, for us, we lost to Carter Jonas this year, however, the real victory was the collective effort to support those in need.
This year’s event also marked a new era for COEL, with a bold rebrand that brought a brighter, more modern vision to life. The vibrant kits and enthusiastic support from the Cambridge community made the day truly special. (Link to rebrand article)
As the sun set on another successful cricket day, the sense of pride and excitement for the future was palpable. The event showcased not just the competitive spirit of Cambridge’s business community, but also its generosity and heart.
We’ll be presenting our four charities with a cheque on Friday 24th October. If you’d like to come along to celebrate at The Phoenix Trust, register your attendance here.
Thank you to everyone who played, sponsored, and supported the COEL & Carter Jonas Charity Cricket Day 2025.
